A BLOCKED sink or toilet IS A HOUSEHOLD EMERGENCY

One blocked toilet in a single-bathroom home means the household stops working. A backing-up sink in the kitchen means no washing-up. A slow shower drain means standing in waste water. Internal drainage problems are some of the most disruptive emergencies a home can face — and they always seem to happen at the worst possible time.

EcoGas clears internal blockages fast and properly. We diagnose what’s actually blocking the line (wet wipes, hair, foreign objects, soil stack issues, structural pipework problems) before clearing it. CCTV check afterwards confirms the line is fully clear and identifies any underlying structural issues that might cause future blockages.

BLOCKED INTERNAL DRAINAGE WE FIX

Cleared properly, cause identified, no repeat call-outs

TOILET WON'T FLUSH

Water rising in the bowl or refusing to drain — usually a soil stack or pan trap blockage.

KITCHEN SINK BLOCKED

Water backing up in the kitchen sink — usually fat and food debris in the trap or downstream pipe.

BATH OR SHOWER SLOW

Water draining slowly from the bath or shower tray — usually hair and soap scum building up in the trap.

DRAIN SMELL INSIDE

Foul drain smell from a sink or shower without obvious blockage — usually a dried-out trap or partial blockage.

GURGLING SOUNDS

Gurgling from sinks, baths or toilets when other water is run — sign of an air-lock or partial blockage in the soil stack.

MULTIPLE FIXTURES SLOW

More than one fixture slow at the same time — sign the blockage is in shared pipework, not the individual trap.

ECOGAS'S INTERNAL DRAINAGE SERVICE

CLEARANCE

Manual rodding, plunging, vacuum extraction, or high-pressure jetting depending on the blockage. Most internal blockages cleared in 30–60 minutes.

CCTV CHECK

Camera survey after clearance to confirm the line is fully clear and identify any structural pipework issues that might cause future blockages.

WHAT PERTH SAYS AFTER A BLOCKED TOILET FIX

Ian B. — Perth

Toilet had been slow flushing for weeks before it finally blocked completely. EcoGas cleared it in 20 minutes, ran a camera, found build-up from a previous half-cleared blockage. Properly fixed this time.

Jenny F. — Perth

Kitchen sink kept blocking every few months despite clearing. EcoGas jetted the line, ran a camera, found a partial collapse of the waste pipe under the floor. Replaced that section. No more blockages.

Kevin D. — Perth

Shower had become almost unusable from slow drainage. EcoGas cleared a hair and soap scum blockage from the trap, fitted a hair-catching strainer, gave us advice on prevention. Quick, professional, fair price.

Layla T. — Perth

Persistent drain smell in the bathroom that no amount of cleaning would shift. EcoGas diagnosed a dried-out floor drain trap, refilled it, ran a camera to check for partial blockages. Smell gone overnight.

BLOCKED TOILET & SINK FAQS

WHY DO TOILETS BLOCK?

Three most common causes in Perth: (1) Wet wipes flushed instead of toilet paper — even those marketed as ‘flushable’ don’t break down properly; (2) Excessive toilet paper used in one flush; (3) Foreign objects flushed accidentally (especially with young children — toys, hair clips, etc). Less common: build-up in the soil stack or partial collapse of older pipework.

Sometimes — a plunger works on light blockages and is worth trying first. Don’t use chemical drain unblockers in toilets (they damage seals and can cause splash-back). Don’t try to push something heavy down with a hanger or wire — you can puncture the pan or push the blockage deeper. If a plunger doesn’t work in five minutes, call us.
Recurring sink blockages usually mean the underlying cause hasn’t been fixed. Common reasons: (1) Fat and grease build-up in the waste pipe (kitchens especially) — needs jetting, not just clearing; (2) Hair and soap scum in bathroom traps — fix is a hair-catching strainer; (3) Pipework with a sag or partial collapse — repair needed; (4) Insufficient downward fall on the waste pipe — pipework alteration.
Sometimes for light hair-and-soap blockages in bathroom sinks. Almost never for kitchen blockages (fat doesn’t dissolve well) or for heavier blockages. Chemicals also damage chrome traps and rubber seals over time. We don’t recommend them as anything other than a last resort before calling a professional.
Two common causes: (1) A trap (the U-bend) has dried out — usually a sink or floor drain that’s not used often. Run water through it for 30 seconds to refill the trap. (2) A partial blockage trapping waste that’s slowly fermenting — invisible from the surface but smells. We can diagnose with a CCTV survey.
For Perth addresses, average arrival for an emergency blocked toilet is 60–90 minutes. We prioritise these calls because we know a single-bathroom blocked toilet means the household stops working. Same-day clearance is standard, often within a few hours of your call.
